Shipping Details and Wallet Information

Hi Backers-

Some of you have already received your wallet and others will be receiving them in the next days. It was quite a whirlwind shipping out all of your orders this week. Thank you to everyone who completed their survey promptly. If you haven't, please do so! Surveys that were completed after our first lock-down will continue to process in batches. We still plan to ship orders containing FSHD Orange, Red and the International Billfold in February.

Wallet Information:

Leather Care

When the leather is tanned, it is infused with oil and wax. The wax emanates to the surface over time, and if not used, the the leather appears to have a dusty coating. With use, the wax is continually rubbed back into the leather, conditioning it. This is one reason the leather is self-healing. So if your wallet arrives and it looks dusty, simply just start using it. If it bothers you, rub it with a microfiber cloth. You should not use any cleaners, conditioners or other products on your leather.

Wallet Use

Remember that leather is a natural material and will shape with time. Your wallet may feel tight initially. That's normal. Load your wallet with the items you want to carry and start using it. Within a few days your wallet will form around your items and the cards will slide in and out with ease.

Some FAQ:

1) I got a shipping email from BackerKit but it didn't have a tracking number--where is my package?

We are still trying to figure out why BackerKit sent out fulfillment emails and we apologize for any confusion. If you got an email that had no tracking number it just means your order was sent to our fulfillment software. When it actually ships you will receive a tracking number / link via email.

2) My shipment notification shows multiple wallets - I only ordered 1. Will more than one be sent? Will I be charged more?

There was some confusion with orders that selected red as their color, because we initially requested a backup color if there wasn't enough demand for red. This shows up as an additional wallet. If you ordered 1 wallet, one will be shipped, regardless of what your shipping email said. Sorry for the confusion. We're working with BackerKit to rectify that for future orders.

Initial Surveys will Lock Thursday Evening - Completed Surveys will Begin Shipping!

Hi Backers,

Thank you for so promptly filling out your surveys. We have had more than 400 people respond already! We've also had almost 100 additional wallets purchased via add-ons, which is great. We're excited to start shipping all of your product. 

We will be locking in all surveys that have been completed by tomorrow night, so if you haven't completed your survey yet, please do so before Thursday evening to ensure your product will be shipped in time for the holidays.  

So far, the top two most requested products have been the Cash Wallet in Cognac and Cobalt. The most popular add-on has been Matte monogramming. 

Once the first batch of surveys locks down Thursday at midnight, we'll begin preparing shipments. We plan to ship all items (with the exception of stretch goals and iPhone cases) on Monday the 18th and Tuesday the 19th, so delivery is on/before 12/23.

Surveys are Out!

Hi Backers,

I apologize it took longer than anticipated to review the surveys. They have started sending and should all be delivered by Saturday morning. We had a bit more complicated back-end work than I anticipated. I also wanted to be sure I could include the information for the International Billfold and new color(s). Here's a peek into production and also a few notes you may find helpful:

COLORS:

 While we do not have a working sample of the Red, this is a swatch of the leather (Apologies for the iPhone photo).

INTERNATIONAL BILLFOLD

While I was visiting the factory we did some prototyping for the International Billfold. We made one necessary change to account for the increased height (2cm). The International version of the Billfold will have an additional piece of leather sandwiched between the front and back sections, creating 2 large compartments instead of just one (as illustrated below). This addition provides for more structure - and better organization. The thickness will be changed only very slightly (just under a millimeter thicker). 

Because of the additional leather and labor, the price of the Intnl Billfold is identical to the passport wallet (+$15) and is also available wtih RFID (+$8)

SURVERY TIDBITS

For monogramming, please be sure to enter the correct information in your cart at the end of the survey. Read the description and instructions in the add-on.

We included Red in the survey, noting production will depend on demand. If you select Red on the survey, be sure to answer the question stating your second choice.

Unfortunately this will make it look like you have two wallets in your cart - there are not. This was the best way to give us proper counts for production. You can see the example here:

SHIPPING TIMELINES

We are eager to ship as quickly as possible and ask that you complete your survey in a timely fashion. After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses at any time before we close the surveys and get our final counts. If you don't answer your survey before the deadline, we’ll still receive your information but your shipment may be delayed. We will give you an update next week when the surveys will be processed. 

For International orders, if you would like your items by 23 Dec, you will need to select the FedEx International Priority add on as previously mentioned.

Products with delayed delivery:

• The stretch-goal wallets will be completed/shipped in February (this includes: FSHD Orange, Red and International Billfold)
• New iPhone Cases (8, 8+ and X) will be completed in January 

Can I receive my order in different shipments if it includes a product with delayed delivery? If you decide to split your order, we ask that you cover the additional shipping fees. Just send a message to [email protected] and we will make a plan.

BackerKit Surveys are on the Way

Hi Backers,

The survey is complete and pending review by BackerKit! Once they ensure everything is set up correctly, you will receive a direct email inviting you to complete the survey.

A few notes:

RED: We have included Red in the survey. Choose Red if it's your top choice. If we have enough interest, we will produce in Red. If there is not enough interest we will message you directly so you can change your selection. We're optimistic it will work out!

ADD-ONS: On the survey you will be able to add monogramming, RFID, etc. We have also made many of our products available at a discount as a thank you for your support.

SHIPPING: We have covered more than 50% of the shipping costs for each add-on item. If, however, you order several add-on items, send me a direct message and I can give you a bulk shipping discount.

DEADLINE: Please be prompt in completing your survey so you make the first shipment batch. We are working closely with the manufacturer to be sure they meet the outlined time commitment and deliver high-quality products. If you have any special requests (you're traveling and want to know exact shipping dates, etc.), send me a message or email [email protected].

Celebration!!! (and answers to your questions)

Hi Backers,

What a campaign! THANK YOU! We made it to $48,237. Here are a few answers to some questions you may have:

1) When will I receive the survey to let you know what I want?  We're currently finalizing the survey and anticipate you should receive it on Tuesday, December 5th.

2) What color was selected for the stretch goal? Most people responded they were happy with the current color choices, but second place was FSHD Orange. Red actually received a decent number of votes, so we are communicating with the factory this weekend to know if we can produce in red as well. This may be based on demand -- so if enough people choose red on the survey we will likely produce it. We'll give you more info when we send out the survey.

3) Will you be doing an international version of the billfold? Similar to colors, this will largely depend on demand. We did not attain the stretch goal, and it is quite expensive to make the tooling and dies for an additional style. We're doing what we can to make it possible. We'll have more info with the survey.

4) When will you be shipping? Production has started and our production manager assures us we will have the items in 2 weeks. Our current plan is to ship on 12/18 and 12/19 so all packages in the US are delivered prior to 12/24 (USPS Schedule). For International packages, we have great rates with FedEx International Priority, so delivery prior to 12/24 will be an option for an additional fee. More info in the survey.

5) Has my credit card been charged? Kickstarter has started to charge credit cards. Be sure your payment method is up to date or it will not process (and we can't ship your order). Kickstarter will send/has sent you a message if there is an issue.

6) What did you do to celebrate when the campaign finished? Popped open a bottle of Martinelli's with my wife right at midnight when it ended, watched This is Us (a US TV show) then slept better than we had for more than a month... until the kids woke us up.
